Girls Trip, Because It’s Cheaper Than Therapy

Why is a girl’s trip cheaper than therapy you might ask..? Well think about it, who else can relate better to you and will understand this whole mommy life? Yes, it’s the girls you talk to on a daily basis. Not only does it feel therapeutic when you vent to them over a text or call, but just imagine having a girls weekend with them were you all can relax and enjoy some much-needed r&r. And although it might feel a bit scary to leave your little ones behind with a relative for a few days, well coming from this flight attendant mama, trust me, THEY WILL BE OK!

Let me break this down to you guys. The first time I left for a work trip, the guilt was there. The first time I took a trip with my husband, the guilt was there. The first time I took a trip with my girlfriend, the guilt was there but this time it wasn’t just because of the girls but also because I had left the hubby behind. The one thing I will tell you though every time I’ve left on any of these types of trips I have always came back home feeling refreshed. We need that time away to reset even if you take a quick weekend trip by yourself locally. Remember self-care and doing things that you enjoyed doing pre-kids for yourself are just as important and you should make it a habit to do them on a regular basis.

Well a month ago my girlfriends and I took a quick trip to London. 3 out of the 4 of us had never been there so everything was just amazing and beautiful. We landed on a Friday afternoon, went straight to our hotel to change and went out and explored the city. The first stop was Big Ben, which sadly is still under some construction so we didn’t get to see much of it. But as we walked and turned to the left there was the London Eye and all its glory. My favorite thing to see were those red telephone booths that you always see in movies. The first thing that came to mind was to call my sister and quote our favorite childhood movie, The Parent Trap, “Pick up, this is an emergency!” with a British accent. Please tell me you just read that in your British accents because I literally just did as I typed it.

The following day was full of adventures that we had mapped out the night before. We started at the Peggy Porschen Cakes. This is such a cute coffee/pastry shop. I say it’s a must do with girlfriends when you’re there. Just make sure you get there early because it gets busy later in the day. The street that this is located was one of my favorites to walk on. Every other block had a building decorated with flowers that were mind-blowing. Right after that we went to Notting Hill. (Yes, just like the movie.) That town was so adorable with all its pastel houses and all the shops along the way. We had lunch at a nearby restaurant while we were there. It was so delicious! Right after that we went to see if Queen Elizabeth was home at Buckingham Palace for some tea but unfortunately, she was not available to receive us that day. There was also no changing of the guard that day which was such a bummer because I was looking forward to that. So, we decided to get strawberry ice cream near the London Tower, which by the way was such a beautiful site to see. The location was also ideal to grab a bite and do some shopping. We grab coffee and did some souvenir shopping while we were there.

Ultimately there is nothing like sharing adventures and memories with friends! It’s an experience that every woman should have no matter the location. I enjoyed having 3 of my best friends with me in a new place I had never been too and can’t wait to plan our next adventure!
